Practical therapy for trauma, anxiety, relationships and emotional wellbeing.
Many people struggle with trauma, painful memories, or difficult life events that can make day-to-day life challenging. Sometimes it’s for ourselves, other times for our partner or children — but reaching out for support can make a real difference.
At Hobart Therapy, we offer both short- and long-term support. Whether you’re looking for psychotherapy, trauma-informed therapy, EMDR, EFT, CBT approaches, DBT-informed practice, or help with anxiety, depression, trauma, borderline personality disorder (BPD), anger, or simply wanting more out of life — we’re here to help.
Work can also be a major source of stress. If you feel stuck, unhappy at work, or constantly dealing with difficult situations or colleagues, we can support you in finding ways to manage these challenges.
Being upfront — change isn’t always easy. It takes hard work and challenges many different parts of us. But if you’re ready to work out how life could be different, the first step is getting in touch. We’ll really try to help. Â
Why Chris?
Finding the right therapist is about more than qualifications or therapeutic approaches.
Most people want to know one thing:
Will this person understand what I’m going through?
My approach is based on a simple idea: people make sense when their story makes sense.
Whether you’re struggling with trauma, anxiety, relationship difficulties, anger, emotional overwhelm or simply feeling stuck, therapy can help you understand what is happening beneath the surface and what needs to change.
Many of the people I work with appear to be coping on the outside while privately feeling exhausted, disconnected, frustrated or overwhelmed. Others find themselves repeating the same patterns in relationships, work or life and are unsure how to move forward.
I aim to provide a space where you can speak openly, think clearly and feel understood without judgement.
My work is particularly focused on:
- Trauma and its lasting effects
- Relationships and attachment patterns
- Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
- Anger and emotional regulation
- Men’s mental health
- Shame, self-worth and self-criticism
My style is practical, thoughtful and collaborative. I don’t believe therapy needs to be overly clinical or complicated. Together we work to understand the patterns that are keeping you stuck and develop more effective ways of responding to life’s challenges.
People often come to see me because:
- “I keep getting angry and I don’t fully understand why.”
- “My relationship is struggling.”
- “I feel overwhelmed but I can’t switch off.”
- “I’ve been through things I don’t think I’ve properly dealt with.”
- “I’m functioning, but I’m not really okay.”
- “I don’t know if therapy is for me, but something needs to change.”
If any of this feels familiar, therapy may be worth exploring.
The most important factor in successful therapy is finding someone you feel comfortable talking with. If this approach resonates with you, I welcome the opportunity to work together.

EFT - Emotion Focused Therapy

Grounded in attachment theory and humanistic psychology, EFT views emotions as adaptive signals that provide valuable information about personal needs, rather than mere symptoms.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Workplace challenges such as stress, burnout, or conflict can affect both professional and personal life. EAP sessions provide confidential, supportive therapy to help employees manage difficulties, improve wellbeing, and perform more effectively at work.

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
Living with BPD can be overwhelming, with intense emotions, relationship struggles, and challenges with identity. Therapy provides a safe, non-judgmental space to understand these patterns and develop practical coping strategies. With the right support, it is possible to find greater stability and balance.
Supervision and Workplace Mentoring
In addition to therapy, I also provide clinical supervision and workplace mentoring. These sessions create a safe, space to strengthen professional practice, build confidence, and develop new skills — and that applies to whatever role you’re in whether you’re a professional, manager, or part of a team.

What Clients Say About Hobart Therapy
Chris was with me as i worked to make changes in my life - it was really hard but i feel like i got there with just the right amount of pace, challenge and support.
I was struggling with work a lot - finding it really stressful, my work relationships were pretty terrible. With Chris i was able to work thorugh managing work much better - i feel less stressed and am going home from work in a better place!.
I'm using anger less to communicate now - i'm still working with him to improve further but already it's making a difference to my life
Long term and thoughtful work - just what i needed. Sessions were flexible too so i could fit around work.
I was able to work out why i do some things almost without knowing. I was able notice these things more easily and do something different instead - it sounds cheesy but i learnt about myself and that i'm not a broken person.
